Default Cutlass progress thread 1 (pulling body & fixing mounts)

Ok so I think it's time for me to start a real progress thread for what I'm doing to the 72 Cutlass currently. My goal is to box the frame and fix all the motor mounts then put it all back together. It's what needs to be done to make the car safe and it's what I can afford. I'll be trying extremely hard to stay focused on goal and avoid the "while I'm under there I'll...." phenomenon or else my car will turn into a jack stand wounder like some of the cars on here.

So to the progress.

I cleaned out the garage and started with this:

After much effort I got the car off the frame enough to get a 2X4 between the frame and the body. A note to anyone wanting to lift a really old car like mine from the trunk latch, DONT. Since my trunk has been patched a couple of times before the trunk latch started peeling up the patch. I know many of you have lifted gbody's this way (even I have) but on a car this old it's not wise.

To lift the body I used two come alongs attached to a 3X20 load strap that was looped over an A frame. In the front I used two engine hoists, with the hooks attached to the top of the torque boxes.

Currently the car now sits with the body at a comfortable working height.

more pictures as I progress.........
